At this high school this is the only computer lab these students have to use. These computers are out of date and many of them only work part of the time. As you can see these monitors and keyboards are in desperate need of repair and are not comparable with what the staff and teachers use. Teachers and staff are issued flat panel computer screens with the latest technology and all of the bells and whistles, while students get to use these out of date and broken down computers. This is the only computer lab for the entire school so time is limited. Most teachers don't even bother with using this lab because half of the time, the computers don't even work.

That is sad. It is unfortunate that some activities cannot be done due to the lack of technology. I'm sure it would be nice to be able to use the computers every now and again for research perhaps. There are many skills students and being deprived of without this tool.
With a lot of the things that we are learning about incorporating technology into the classroom, it is a shame to see that some schools don't have the funds to provide adequate equipment to carry out our ideas. Some schools now have a set of ipads for each classroom, and this being the only computer lab in the school seems like injustice to me.
Hey that's the same with our school. The computers aren't nearly as out of date though. You would think that if we are educating students to become successful in a technological world, we would provide them with technology! I can't imagine not having access to the unlimited resources provided through the internet.
In schools where students do not have access to computers an injustice is occurring because students who do not own a computer are punished. The students who lack access to computers will not be able to do the work at school and public libraries have such limited times of operation the students are nearly set up for failure. It would be interesting if a grant could be given to the school to replace these computers that are at least a decade old.
