I'm really not sure why educators are so fearful of technological canned curriculums... we've had paper canned curriculums for decades. Many educators loathe them, but most get around them by being the facilitator as you suggest. While I certainly would desire the freedom to suppliment any canned curriculum, I don't see them as entirely evil.Jeffrey Harthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16011898296267164168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-24472002905382130482012-11-08T05:47:08.572-08:002012-11-08T05:47:08.572-08:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Nicole-Main-CSUSMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00202061019827640232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-55988857410518380872012-11-08T05:46:37.884-08:002012-11-08T05:46:37.884-08:00I agree with you it does seem surprising that so m...I agree with you it does seem surprising that so many school officials see the befits of technology in the classroom. I find it even more surprising given the fact many schools have a no phone policy and no WiFi for the students. Ideally this technology movement will come out of the dream stages and start becoming a reality for schools.--Nicole MainNicole-Main-CSUSMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00202061019827640232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-47469465797478740662012-09-13T11:47:25.448-07:002012-09-13T11:47:25.448-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anthony Atwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01137617518759281589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-63985166369126384522012-09-13T11:46:38.205-07:002012-09-13T11:46:38.205-07:00Hi Pat,

The method behind the madness is that these students are preparing for the AP Exam at the end of the year or if they choose to advance to AP next year, so writing structured paragraphs is vital for there understanding, but you make a good point. Maybe examining each piece out of order or even one at a time might be a better option for the students as they would be able to chunk the assignment and chew on each piece as they complete the tasks, then an assessment might be writing the AXES paragraphs in order to demonstrate comprehension of the assignment. The students who lack access to computers will not be able to do the work at school and public libraries have such limited times of operation the students are nearly set up for failure. It would be interesting if a grant could be given to the school to replace these computers that are at least a decade old.Nicole-Main-CSUSMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00202061019827640232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-44239177380713803762012-09-08T11:24:50.932-07:002012-09-08T11:24:50.932-07:00Hey that's the same with our school. Some schools now have a set of ipads for each classroom, and this being the only computer lab in the school seems like injustice to me.Alexa Scheidlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17113445857534525365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-50719838382061727242012-09-06T20:09:50.513-07:002012-09-06T20:09:50.513-07:00That is sad. Most of the time history is seen as distant or unrelated to the lives of students and hence they don't have any interest. I know I didn't have any interest in the black and white history of high school and it wasn't until college, where nuance and inconvenient facts are allowed, that I took an interest.Justinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13149735374509561023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8099961203528777838.post-16442264416788137412008-07-29T18:55:00.000-07:002008-07-29T18:55:00.000-07:00Hey Anthony you found a really good site.
